The following event is being held at the La Crescent Community Building on Saturday, September 24th from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
The Minnesota Tree Steward program is designed for people who love trees, enjoy being outdoors, and want to volunteer with their community. In this class, you will learn how to properly plant and maintain young/newly planted trees, how to prune young trees and remove suckers/sprouts from mature trees, and how to monitor a young tree’s health during the establishment period. After you complete the training and assessment, you will be an official Minnesota Tree Steward Volunteer!
Training provided by the University of Minnesota.
To stay active, volunteers are required to complete 10 hours of volunteer work or participate in 3 tree related volunteer events each year. Recertification happens every 3 years, when volunteers take a short assessment to ensure they’re up to date with the latest tree standards and program information.
Registration for this program can be done here – https://learning.umn.edu/…/publicCourseSearchDetails.do…
The city will pay $10 of the $25 registration fee.
