The City of La Crosse is considering a proposed Wagon Wheel Trail project along USH 14/61 from La Crescent, MN to La Crosse, WI. This is a multi-use trail that would begin at Sportsman’s Boat Landing in Minnesota, widen the existing US 14/61 roadway bridge over the Mississippi River West Channel, widen the existing northern sidewalk along USH 14/61, and terminate at the Cass Street/Cameron Avenue bridge underpasses in Wisconsin. The purpose of this project is to provide a safe and efficient transportation network for pedestrians and bicyclists. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2026.

A public involvement meeting will be held on April 4, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the South Side Neighborhood Center, 1300 6th Street South, La Crosse, WI 54601. This meeting will be an informal open house format. The objective of this meeting is to provide project information and gather public input about the proposed project.
